We are living in a very unique time. Each of us gets to choose what we will do with our waking hours. Many of those that came before us didn’t have the luxury of choice. Think back to the world that your grandparents, or your great grandparents lived in. They were raised in a certain area where their educational choices may not have been great, and they made certain decisions and life paths based largely on what they knew to be true. We know they didn’t have the communication technology, in those days. They couldn’t easily keep in touch with their family over long distances. They were often forced to choose to work in industries that were prevalent in their local geography in order to keep in touch with family, and to keep their ties with friends.
The world has completely changed, and we’re living in a world of specialization. Other blogs have talked about the benefits of specialization, and what can come of focusing your economic energy in a certain direction. Looking at this, we now live in the era of specialization, and a side effect of this is each of us can choose what we specialize in. In the era of joint ventures, and other business arrangements, we truly have an opportunity to pick our focus, to focus on the things that we really want to focus on, and have economic prosperity. We can team up with others and build economic systems that allow us to focus on our unique talents and abilities.
